Network Marketing Business The Real Reasons You Won't Talk to Friends and Family

Today the “new” thing is that you not only can but you should build a Network Marketing business without talking to your friends and relatives. Everywhere you look people are putting down the idea that talking to friends and relatives because it’s “old school”. They want you to look at this issue emotionally. I want you to analysis it intellectually.

Why You Won’t Talk to Your Friends and Relatives…the REAL reasons:

1. Credibility. You have no credibility with your friends and relatives. After all…you aren’t rich yet! They know you too well…so you can’t “fake it until you make it”. Since you can’t tell them why you will be successful this time, you just avoid the issue altogether by not telling them about it in the first place.

2. You don’t believe in your company. No you don’t! Because you paid money to join a Network Marketing business doesn’t mean you actually believe in it. Belief in your company takes time and is ONLY tested when something happens that you don’t like! (Read that again.) Anyone can have a “belief” when things are going well.

3. You don’t believe in your product(s). Belief in your product is the easiest belief to gain. It either works or it doesn’t. However, you have to take it or use it long enough to gain that belief.

4. You don’t believe in your opportunity. NO YOU DON’T! Until you actually make money…you don’t believe in it. Want proof? Who is the most important person in your life? Do you want to see them financially free…or some stranger you met on a chat board! If you REALLY believed in your opportunity, if you REALLY believed that you were going to become rich…then why would you want to take some stranger on the trip with you instead of someone you know? That simply makes no sense. The only people who won’t talk to their friends and relatives are those that don’t believe in their opportunity!

5. You don’t believe in yourself. If you believed in yourself, you couldn’t wait to tell your friends and relatives about your Network Marketing business because you KNOW you are going to be successful. But…since you don’t actually believe in yourself, you are afraid to put yourself “out there on the line” with them, but you will do so with strangers because you have no relationship with them. Belief in you is going to take a L-O-N-G time.

Why You Should Talk to Your Friends and Relatives…the REAL reasons!

1. You need experience. You will NOT consistently sponsor people in the “cold market” unless you have developed certain skill sets…regardless of where that lead came from, Internet or not! Talking with your friends and relatives is the fastest way to gain some of that important experience base. It’s NOT about whether they join or not. It’s NOT about them…it’s about YOU. It’s about you getting your feet wet!

2. “Why didn’t you tell me about this”? Once successful, your friends and relatives are not going to be happy that you didn’t share this with them in the beginning. They may not have joined anyway, but that’s not the issue. The issue is about you never having regrets. Personally, I want to be able to say, “I told you so”, rather than, “I’m sorry”.

3. If your company has a “fast-start” program it’s very important you qualify for it. You will NOT earn that bonus if you insist on only recruiting in from the cold market. It takes time to fill up your pipeline and there won’t be enough time if the Internet is the only technique you use.

4. Who is the most important person in your life? Do you want to see them financially free…or some stranger you met on a chat board!

5. Because you don’t know enough yet to present it to someone you don’t know!

So…
If you don’t have enough credibility to tell your friends and relatives about your new Network Marketing business then you probably won’t make it anyway because this business in all about credibility and it’s about getting past the fear of rejection because no one likes to be rejected.

If you won’t address this small obstacle of fear concerning your “warm market”, then trust me…you certainly won’t be able to handle the much bigger obstacles that will most certainly come your way on the road to building your Network Marketing business.

If you are new to your Network Marketing business, you can generate leads using the Internet and I can purchase leads from a lead company and I will sponsor more than you. Why? It is because of skills I have learned in being the top recruiter in two different Network Marketing companies…no not for one month…but top recruiter for the YEAR! It’s those skills that are important and not where the lead came from. Do I believe in using the Internet to generate leads? Yes…I have for years. However, the important thing is your SKILL and not where the lead was generated.

5 Business Principles of Success in Building Your Network Marketing Business

In building any business a lot of things are required for success and building a network marketing business is no different. However, not all “things” are created equal. The following are the most important Business Principles without which you have no chance for success.

5 Business Principles of Success

1. Principle of “The Why”: Having presented training programs to thousands of distributors across the country three things have become very obvious…

a. The vast majority of distributors have no idea why they are building their business.

b. Those that think they know why, say it’s for money.

c. The number #1 reason people quit (by far!)? Because they never figured out why they are trying to build their business.

Fact…if you don’t determine “why” you are building your network marketing business…you won’t! Simple as that.

Money is NOT a big enough reason because you won’t make it fast enough to keep you motivated. Besides, if you wanted more money, there are a lot of easier ways to earn it. Your “why” MUST be bigger than you. It must be something that “burns” deep inside of you. Don’t even start building your business until you figure this out because you will just be wasting your time. Hardships and challenges are part of building any business and if you don’t have a “why” that’s bigger than those hardships and challenges then you will quit before you get started.

2. Principle of Duplication: Just because it works doesn’t mean it duplicates and without duplication you will have created a job not an opportunity. Write this down where you can see it every day, “It’s about duplication…not innovation”. Don’t recreate the wheel if your upline has a system you can follow. If not, then you need to create one that is so simple anyone can do it assuming they are serious about building their network marketing business. It’s all about what we call, “Most of the people most of time”. What can most of the people do most of the time? Answer that question and you create duplication.

3. Principle of a Simple Business System: The goal of any business system is three things…

a. Get people in

b. Keep people in

c. Move them s-l-o-w-l-y through a process that allows them to progressively grow in both their business and their personal growth.

If your business system doesn’t accomplish these things then you don’t have an effective business system. It is easy to make building a network marketing business hard…anyone can do that. The key is can you make it simple. Note: I did not say make it “easy”. Too many people confuse “simple” with “easy”. There is nothing about building a network marketing business that is easy but it’s your job as a leader to make it as simple for everyone as possible.

4. Principle of 3rd Party Tools: It’s a simple concept, “The person who gets the most 3rd Party Tools into the hands of the most people…WINS!” Why? Because 3rd Party Tools can do something that no one else is capable of doing…they NEVER make a mistake! What is a 3rd Party Tool? It can be anything that promotes your business including a DVD, audio-tape, web site, hot-line message, product samples, webinar, etc. The point is that such tools do the work for you while you sleep. Give 10 prospects a company DVD and when they watch it you did 10 professional business presentations without having to attend any of them. Nothing is more time effective than using 3rd Party Tools because the tools actually are doing the bulk of the work for you. And talk about “duplicatable” and “simple”! Clearly “most of the people most of the time” can pass out a 3rd Party Tool while “most of the people most of them” may never learn to present the business professionally. The more 3rd Party Tools being passed out in your downline the bigger and faster your check (and theirs!) will grow.

5. Principle of Sorting and Qualifying: Three important concepts…

a. Not everyone is qualified to be in your network marketing business.

b. You have to know who to spend your time with.

c. Knowing when to tell a prospect you won’t sponsor them (or telling a current distributor to quit!) is more important than sponsoring them.

A major part of building your network marketing business is avoiding “burn out”. Everyone goes through it if they stay in the game long enough. No one is immune to it…but the key is doing all we can to minimize it. Understanding and practicing the three points above will help you minimize it. Learning to sort and qualify your prospect upfront is arguably the most difficult skill you will need to learn, but it’s also arguably the most important.

4-Key Questions to Ask in Choosing the Right Network Marketing Company

Let’s start by debunking two big myths…

Myth #1: “I can’t sell a product that I don’t believe in”. Have you ever said that…or at least thought it before? What a dumb statement! 4 Questions to Ask When Choosing a Network Marketing Company

1. The Marketplace? Is the Network Marketing Company you are exploring on the forefront of a huge expanding market, the middle of a soon to be mature market or the worst possible position of all at the end of a declining market? This is a CRITICAL question because you can be “average” and still make it big if you are positioned in the front of a major expanding market. However, “average” people don’t usually succeed very well in a declining market. Look carefully at what industry you choose as this may have more impact on your success than your own personal abilities.

2. The Product? Does it work? Is it affordable? If the consumer can purchase a similar product somewhere else, (particularly at a lower price), then no true residual income is possible. Your product must satisfy a “need’ or “want” and not be easily duplicated or mass marketed by others.

3. The Market Trend? Wealth is created by being in front of large trends. Timing is everything! Concentrate on large, aggressive and long market trends. Two issues will create major trends of the next 10-20 years. First are products associated with maintaining or enhancing personal health and second are “baby boomer” retirement issues.

4. The Leverage Factor? Can you create leverage in your prospective Network Marketing business? Without leverage you will NEVER create financial security. 95% at age 65 can’t afford to retire because they worked their entire lives for “linear” income…so they got paid only when they worked. Network Marketing Business - You MUST Get Out of the Box to Be Successful

One of the biggest challenges in building a successful Network Marketing business is the frustration of sponsoring someone only to have them never produce any business and then quit. You know how it works. You just sponsored a "winner" and you just know this is THE person...this is the one...they are going to make you rich. Heck...they are so successful in their life...they just can't help but be successful in their Network Marketing business. At last your ship has come in. You go to bed counting dollar bills instead of sheep but 90-days later they quit without doing a single piece of business.

What happened? For the first time ever you are about to learn the real reason they failed.

Our forefathers were "Hunters and Gatherers", then became "Farmers" and then came the Industrial Revolution and with it the "Industrial Age". Today it's the "Information Age" but...and this is VERY important...regardless of your age, you and those you sponsor have been so greatly influenced by the Industrial Revolution that it keeps you from building a successful Network Marketing business and it's what caused your "can't miss" distributor to quit!

Let me explain... Studies suggest that 84% of all Americans require a "well-defined structured environment" in order to succeed at anything they do! Only 2% need no direction and 14% need some direction. This requirement came about as a result of the Industrial Revolution...it's the way they have been taught to work and it's all they know. They need a strict "step by step" environment in order to perform! Previously everyone was a self-sufficient entrepreneur...that or you didn't eat! People were forced by their circumstances to be self-sufficient. If you wanted to live you had to hunt and fish and later on you farmed. There were few other options. You simply had to determine on a daily basis...day after day...how you were going to survive. Life was simple...you either managed your time, learned "life skills" and practiced a few simple disciplines or you died. In short...there was no one to tell you what to do, when to do it or even how to do it.

You just did it!

Then came the Industrial Revolution.

Life became more structured. Someone else began telling us what to do, when to do it and exactly how to do it. No longer were we required to manage our time (someone else told us what time to be at work, take breaks, take our lunch and when to go home)! We were even told what to wear! Everyone was put in a "box" (office, cubicle or machine) and we learned only enough to get the job done. We lost our "will"...survival was no longer an issue. Now it was how to keep the boss happy, what we would do on the weekend and how many weeks of vacations we got.

The Industrial Revolution destroyed our self-sufficiency, our self-reliance and self-esteem. We were taught to "check our brain at the coat rack"! Now...when faced with building a Network Marketing business that DEMANDS time management skills, being self-sufficient, handling rejection, self-discipline, setting personal work schedules, deciding what they will do and not do, how they will do it and setting goals and actually meeting them...THEY CAN'T DO IT! They simply are not prepared. They are locked in their Industrial Revolution box and they need a key to get out..

So it's no wonder your "dream team" member caused you nightmares. He simply can't perform in an unstructured environment so he had to quit. Of course he will blame it on everything else other than himself...but you now know the truth...he couldn't build a successful Network Marketing business because...

Two Importance Concepts of Momentum When Building Your Network Marketing Business

Two important concepts you must embrace if you want to build a large and successful Network Marketing business:

1. Concept #1: It is easier to build your Network Marketing business fast than it is to build it slow.

2. Concept #2: All Network Marketing businesses are built in a “state of momentum” over a 90-day period.

Let’s explore these two important concepts.

Concept #1: It is Easier to Build Your Network Marketing Business Fast, than it is to Build it Slow

The problem with s-l-o-w is that you cannot create nor maintain any enthusiasm and excitement and without that you cannot create any meaningful growth. The most excited person in your organization is the last new person to join your team. If that person was a month ago, chances are then they are no longer all that excited. Therefore, it takes a constant influx of new distributors to maintain a level of excitement that leads to momentum. That’s why it’s easier to build your business fast...momentum breeds momentum!

Three Key Elements to Building Momentum

1. You ALWAYS create momentum on the “leading edge” of your Network Marketing business! The “leading edge” means the last person that joined because they will ALWAYS be the most excited person in your organization. IMPORTANT: That person on the “leading edge” may have recently been sponsored by you…OR…they may be 10-20 levels deep in your organization. No matter where that newest person is on the team…they represent the “leading edge”. Work with them to sustain the excitement and momentum by helping them get off to a positive start which in turn creates a new “leading edge”.

2. You cannot create excitement, and therefore momentum, without multiplication. However, you cannot have multiplication without first having addition. Momentum is relative. First it starts with YOU! YOU must first learn how to personally sponsor enough new people to create that initial “leading edge”. Over time you will find 3-5 others that will do the same. The key is learning to consistently sponsor 5-new distributors a month. This will provide the people necessary to create the excitement which in turn creates the “leading edge” which in turn creates momentum and growth.

3. Create accountability. Once you have 2-4 key people, form an “accountability group” where all involved commit to a 90-day blitz. Use “accountability” calls where everyone is required to report on their weekly activity. (That’s what makes Weight Watchers work!

Concept #2: All Network Marketing Businesses Are Built in a “State of Momentum” Over a 90-day Period

No one can sustain a concentrated mental and physical effort for long periods of time…no one! Here is a sports analogy (sorry ladies). Tiger Woods, perhaps the greatest golfer of all time, does NOT maintain total concentration during his entire 4-hour, 18-hole round of golf. No he doesn’t…not even when it’s for a major championship. Once he hits his shot and starts walking to his ball he relaxes his mind and it’s not until he once again approaches his ball does he go into a state of concentration.

Building your Network Marketing business should be approached in the same way.

Two Key Elements to Maintaining Your Sanity:

1. We can all stay focused for a short-time and since we don’t actually work our business all day everyday…we can focus that time over a longer period of time. So when you are working your business approach it like Tiger…REALLY focus…no messing around…get to work…make the calls…get intense. A “close the door…don’t bother me…take no prisoners” type of concentration.

2. Use the “Law of 90-Days” to build your business. Every successful person will tell you that when they look back over their careers there were various 90-day periods when it all seemed to come together. Where they sponsored that 1 or 2 key people that today are major players in their organizations. Every top earner I know understands the power of setting aside 90-day “windows” of time to build their Network Marketing businesses. Why? Because we can all stay focused for 90-days at a time but not for the entire 4-hour, 18-hole round!

After 90-days we all get both physically and emotionally drained. Since the “magic” period in this Industry is 90-days…to build a bigger check you simply do additional 90-day blitzes. That doesn’t mean we necessarily see results in that 90-day window…in fact, the results probably won’t show up until later. But it does mean that you will lay a foundation…the seeds of success…that will come to fruition later on.

IMPORTANT: You cannot create momentum working “spare-time”. You can only create momentum working “part-time” or “full time”…but NEVER in your “spare-time”.

Using Auto Dialers for Network Marketing Recruitment

Okay....does anyone have a good auto dialer company or software to recommend?

We've been using a company for about 18 months and although the dialer works well...the customer service is awful! Every month is a fight to get our payment credited to our account and currently we are waiting for our call time to be credited so we can make some calls. The company processed our payment last Wednesday!

Anyway, we think we'd like to invest in some simple software and own the system ourselves. Is that possible?

Since we recommend products to our team on our training site, we don't want any auto dialers which are too pricey. Our current one was $100 and $24.95 monthly. We know there are some out there ($500 IProBuzz) but that's too high for the average network marketer.

On the subject of auto dialers, we'd advise anyone using them to do so in the correct way. Only use opted in lists, scrub them against the no-call list, don't include mobile numbers and make sure you offer an "unsubscribe" feature in your phone message.

We've had alot of success using a brief 25 second message asking the listener to press 1 to hear more. We then direct them to a lengthy 5 minute message. This message has some key points which we have found gets the listener's attention and ups our percent of people leaving their name and contact numbers. Well...guess we'll do the search engine thing on Monday looking for a new auto dialer. If companies could just learn how valuable customer service is...we'd all be alot happier.

Rain Rain Rain

It's Friday and when for over 29 years I was having to drive 30 miles to my corporate HR job, I dreaded it! It seemed like every....and I mean every....week-end it was horrible weather. Here in Kansas that means rain, wind and usually hail. That also meant no golf, no fishing and no fun!

That's why in my training I try to get the idea of "time freedom" explained as the main benefit to dedicating oneself to building their network marketing home business. Most people will tell you it's "financial freedom" and while that's true...you can't put a price tag on "time freedom".

You must have a "Why" for doing your network marketing business and although my wife, Jackie, is my "Why"....having "time freedom" is right up there too.

Time freedom allows you to make choices you have never had before. It might be staying home with your children, playing with your grandchildren, sleeping in whenever you want to, golfing, fishing, traveling, reading, relaxing.......or nothing at all!

Of course, you must be consistent in building your network marketing business. I have a great training about building your mlm business part-time or full-time and not in your spare time. I've got an ezine article on "Momentum in Your Network Marketing Business".....I'll post it soon.

So...one of my favorite times now is sitting by the opened patio door, drinking my coffee and listening to the "beautiful" sound of the rain drops. Yes, I have to "go to work" today but I'll be doing it from my favorite chair without dreading the commute to a J.O.B. and enjoying every minute of it.

Team Training Site is Finally Finished!

My belief is that without a training program, a person's chance at success in Network Marketing is very limited. We have spent thousands of hours and a tremendous amount of money developing a duplicatable and complete "Systems" Training web site so that anyone on our team, Making Money Team, has the best chance at success possible.

I learned the hard way in this Industry...I thought I had enough knowledge and experience in my previous employment as a corporate executive that I didn't need anyone or anything to "know" what to do to build a big enough check to live on. What a mistake!

The knowledge you need to build a large network marketing company requires a different type of training and mentorship. After I discovered this, our check skyrocketed and we became six-figure residual earners and have continued to be full-time network marketers since 2002.

The trick is to spend your time wisely and it's not the amount but the quality of your time. Finding Your Magic Number is the Secret to Building Your Network Marketing Business

Did you know that everyone has a "Magic Number" and once you understand it, it guarantees both financial and time freedom? Would you like to know what your "Magic Number" is? Well, now you can!

We have all heard that bulding a successful Network Marketing business is a "numbers game". What that means is if we just talk to enough people we can ultimately become successful. But how do we know how many people that is? Is it even possible to find out and if so, "How do you find it?"

The answer is "Yes it is" and we can do so by first understanding some history. By looking at what others have done it tells us what is possible for us to do. Let's look at the "Law of the Magic Number" and see how to find yours.

A number of years ago ABC did a show on Amway...the largest Network Marketing business in the world. They interviewed Bill Britt, a multi-millionaire in this industry. When asked, "What is your secret" he replied, "There is no secret. I simply showed the plan to 1200 people, 900 said 'No' and only 300 signed-up. Out of the 300, only 85 did anything at all...out of those 85 only 35 were serious...and out of those 35...11 made me a millionaire." His "Magic Number" was 1200...! Get it!

Rich DeVos, cofounder of Amway Corporation became the 11th richest person in America. He once said that he sponsored 500 people, 495 dropped out and the 5 that stayed built the Amway Corporation. His "Magic Number" was 500...! Get it!

A friend of mine told me that he showed his Network Marketing business to 730 people and 579 said "No". Of the 151 that joined, 86 did something and of those 86 only 36 were serious. Of those 36 that were serious, 11 made him a millionaire ($80,000 a month!). His "Magic Number" was 730...! Get it!

For Bill Britt his Magic Number was only 11 out of 1200, for Rich DeVos it was only 5 out of 500 and for my friend it was just 11 out of 730...each found their "Magic Number" by "going through the numbers". The difference in their individual numbers was because of different skill levels, learning curves, personalities, backgrounds and experiences. Because of a lot of factors everyone has a different "Magic Number". But...based on history we know this...Your personal "Number" is somewhere between 500 and 1500! But, here is the reality...Most people quit LONG before they find their personal "Magic Number"! They quit before the "blessing"... they just don't know it!

The fact is that most people trying to build a successful Network Marketing business simply don't stay in the game long enough to become successful. They talk to 2 or 3 people...no one is interested...so they quit. Most people fail in their Network Marketing business for the same reasons they fail in everything else they do. They don't have the required self-discipline and when you combine the lack of self-discipline with unrealistic expectations...it's a formula for disaster. And because of this...Most people peak when they sign their application!

So ask yourself this question, "Am I prepared to make presentations of my Network Marketing business (over the next 3-5 years!) to 500-1500 people"? If not...then just understand that you may make some money but you won't build long-term financial and time freedom. You can either embrace the truth of what it REALLY takes to build your Network Marketing business or you can make up excuses for your failure like everyone else does. Just like the "Laws of Nature", there are certain "Laws of Success" in this industry. Those "Laws" (whether you choose to believe them or not!) will either work for you or against you...but either way they will work because they are "Laws".One of them is the "Law of the Magic Number". The important thing is, will you make it work for you or against you...because...in the end...it's your most important decision!
